I'm tidying up and organizing for the new year.  Recently I realized that 2012 will be the Year of the Dragon which is my Chinese astrological sign!  The last time the Dragon came around was in 2000.  I remember life being a whirlwind of changes and excitement.  I look forward to 2012 being the same way.

]]><![CDATA[Happy Chinese New Year!]]>Sun, 23 Jan 2011 11:22:01 -0800http://www.tonietgallego.com/1/post/2011/01/happy-chinese-new-year.htmlHere are some photos from my Chinese New Year theme performance during the recent Blast Off Burlesque's 'Holidazed and Confused' show (January 14th and 15th).  I made and pieced my costume together from different sources.  It took me a lot longer to design than I had predicted.  Especially the finale dress piece!

The wonderful Lion Dancers are from the Chien Hong School of Kung Fu.  I thank Yolanda Campbell for her instructing me on the Chinese Sleeve dance form.  And special thanks to my sister, Rizzie for helping to sew my new silk sleeves.
